Description

We are sure that the recent announcement by the Board of Petrotrin that it has decided to close the Pointe a
Pierre refinery; retrench all of its 3,500 permanent employees as well as the close to 2,000 temporary and
casual workers; and then hire some 800 persons to work in a remodeled Exploration and Production
Company and some 200 in a terminalling operation at PAP has raised many issues for you, your
firm/organization and community.
In the past month since that announcement there have been many different narratives in the public domain
and even statements from the Board and/or Government that provided different, indeed oft-times
conflicting, information. This situation has added to the uncertainty about the future of the southern
economy, based as it is significantly on Petrotrin.
